I have the honour to forward for your cons-
ideration a copy of a letter from Mr Ceorge
Mitchell, late Chief sick Berth steward in the
Royal Navy, in which he asks for a small pension
from Colonial funds in view of the fact that
the injury to his eyesight which necessitated
his retirement from the Navy was incurred at
a time when he had volunteered for plague duty
under the Govt of Hong Kong.
2. I enclose also copies of correspondence
with the Admiralty as to this case.
3. As Mr Mitchell's statements appear to be Ø
gode the unce
correct and,/theratere, if the Legislative
Council think fit to make some grant to him
I shall be prepared to approve their action.
